Brussels Sprouts and Toasted Chickpea Pasta
Instant Pot Beef Stew
Stew can be the perfect warm comfort food in the fall and winter months (or really anytime in San Francisco since the weather never changes). Other reasons to try it: it’s cheap, it makes good leftovers, and it even freezes well!

Building up to 30 Days of Bodyweight Workouts
This post outlines a six-week structure intended to guide novice exercisers - and those who are coming back after a long hiatus - through building a consistent, manageable routine to facilitate regular, sustainable and effective exercise and build up to my new 30 days of Bodyweight Workouts.
Training Misconceptions Part IV
This post dives into why toning and lengthening exercises make no sense and are, in fact, just based in widely spread misinformation. These words have been taken out of context and defined incorrectly in order to sell health and fitness services that play into women’s insecurities and reservations about strength training.
Three SF Restaurant-Inspired Stir Fries
These days I’ve been experimenting a lot with stir fries. I think they’re a great way to cook a healthy, flavorful meal that covers all your bases.
Grocery Shopping Guidelines
This guide is intended to serve as a helpful, flexible resource for organizing your shopping trip, keeping to a budget while staying healthy, and including foods that actually taste good so that you can reach your goals while still enjoying meals with friends. Incorporating Anti-Racism into Our Routines
It’s important to use my privilege as a white person AND a business owner take more direct action. We should be incorporating anti-racist work into many aspects of our lives, even those that don’t seem relevant at a glance - like fitness. If we can prioritize exercise on a consistent basis, we can prioritize work against racism on a consistent basis.
Dietary Supplements for Exercise Part Two: Fish Oil
Chicken with Cardamom and Rice
I recently made this *amazing* recipe, which was taken from a blurry picture that someone else took of a cookbook. That’s to say, it was passed around and I’m not quite sure where it’s from but won’t pretend to be versed enough in this type of cooking to publish an original recipe! This is a great Palestinian dish that can be made in just one pan. Most of the ingredients, outside of barberries (which I replaced with…raisins) are quiet accessible at a regular American grocery store.
Harira Recipe (one pot!)
A hearty Moroccan soup that can be prepared in a single pot. The prep time is only 10-15 minutes, but the soup does need to simmer for about 2 hours total, so take that into account! This recipe is delicious, high protein, easy, cheap and the clean up is so quick.
Caramelized Onion Sweet Potato Hash
This is an easy, cheap, vegetarian, high protein, high fiber, delicious brunch that will please people whether they think about the nutritional content of food or not (my favorite type of fitness friendly meal - one that my roommates will also enjoy) It’s also perfect for quarantine time as all of the ingredients required will last a long time in your fridge and on your counter.
Choosing Good Gym Shoes
The way your foot falls not only affects lower body sport performance, it affects basic postural alignment and rate of injury throughout your body. Our feet are our most frequent point of contact with the ground and they way they make that contact can have a greater effect than most of us realize.
Quarantine Recipe: Easy Spicy Peas!
Lunch Idea: Healthy Chicken Salad Sandwich
Easy high protein lunch that you can make in advance!
Dietary Supplements for Exercise Part One: Creatine
Creatine is a safe supplement that provides a nutrient that that almost everyone fails to get enough of through real food. Almost everyone who strength trains regularly could benefit from getting a bit more in their diet. It’s one of the only supplements I take daily, and I’ve noticed massive differences in my performance (and, as a result, appearance) since I began to incorporate it.
Stretching?
I spend a lot of time training a wide variety of clients in the real world, and anecdotally I find that stretching is something that makes all my clients feel better and exercise more - so I recommend it! Here’s a bit on why I think you should stretch, the roots of stretching controversy, and how I suggest you implement it into your current routine.
